How to clean your HEPA filter?

Even with the top rated vacuum cleaners, if you don’t handle it well, it won’t do its job as it should be. So how to clean it the right way?

Choose the right location

Choose a well-ventilated location to remove the filters and clean them, to avoid creating conditions for mold, bacteria, etc. to re-infiltrate and get stuck back into the living space when removing and cleaning the filter.

Open the cover and remove the HEPA filter

Use your hand to gently open and remove the HEPA filter.

Filter dust

Use handheld vacuums or soft bristle brushes to gently remove dirt from the filter.

Gently rinse the filter under the tap

After vacuuming the filter, wet a towel in water and clean the HEPA filter. For stubborn dust that is difficult to clean on the filter, use a tap with gentle pressure to clean the filter, then use a soft cloth or brush to scrub those stains.

Please note:

- Never immerse HEPA filters in water, nor wash them in the washing machine or apply strong force to the filter, as it can cause the filter’s pre-woven structure to loosen and reduce the efficiency of air filtration.

- Do not use strong detergents as they may shorten the life of the filter.

Let the filter dry

It needs to be dried for 1 to 4 hours in the sun with UV rays to kill the remaining bacteria on the filter. If there’s lack of sunlight, you can use a soft towel to moisten the filter and use a hair dryer on the lightest setting.

Install the filter back on the machine

The operation needs to be gentle and precise, and install the reverse order of the steps when removing the filter. Avoid installing it in the wrong direction.

Cleaning objects designed to clean is an ironic chore, but if you don’t do it, The Best Vacuum Cleaner will go to waste. And HEPA filter is one the the most important parts that you should pay attention closely to in maintaining it.
